Matted Coats

This is really important. Sometimes a dog’s coat becomes so matted it cannot be bushed out. Although we have lots of specialist equipment and experience in dealing with this, if you find it impossible to get the mats out, we will only be slightly more successful.

In these cases we will try to de-mat small areas of coat, however should this cause signs of distress or suffering we are obliged to shave them down in accordance with the animal welfare act of 2006, clause 5. Your pet’s wellbeing is at the forefront of our thoughts and often a shave is a much better solution than a lengthy and painful de-matting session.

This can sometimes cause skin irritation which if it persists should be treated in accordance with your vet’s advice.

By paying for a groom you are agreeing that Crossways Kennels owners and our staff will not be held liable for any post grooming effects of clipping a matted or neglected coat.

What our customers say

Mrs Kenton

Our 2 Springer Spaniels came to you for a groom – all we can say is fantastic – Helen and Sarah did just what we asked for and we couldn’t be more pleased. Thank you.

I couldn’t be happier…

Will was clearly well cared for and has even come back smelling amazing!

Nicole H

Silver service

Our boy came in for a Silver service groom. Being a pup who enjoys mud and water, and despite our hosing him down after walks, what the team managed when he came in for his groom was fabulous. He went from rough coat to silky soft coat and appeared after his groom looking like a show dog. Our boy has many allergies and the team used products that didn’t irritate him, they also trimmed his ear hair to maximise air flow to his ears to minimise ear issues. Outstanding service. We will be back. Thank you Groom team and reception team. X
