Matted Coats

This is really important. Sometimes a dog’s coat becomes so matted it cannot be bushed out. Although we have lots of specialist equipment and experience in dealing with this, if you find it impossible to get the mats out, we will only be slightly more successful.

In these cases we will try to de-mat small areas of coat, however should this cause signs of distress or suffering we are obliged to shave them down in accordance with the animal welfare act of 2006, clause 5. Your pet’s wellbeing is at the forefront of our thoughts and often a shave is a much better solution than a lengthy and painful de-matting session.

This can sometimes cause skin irritation which if it persists should be treated in accordance with your vet’s advice.

By paying for a groom you are agreeing that Crossways Kennels owners and our staff will not be held liable for any post grooming effects of clipping a matted or neglected coat.

What our customers say

Grooming for Bernese Mountain Dogs

I have been bringing our Bernese Mountain dogs for their regular wash, brush, trim and blow dry for many years now and I am always really please with the results. It is great to have them clean and smelling lovely though I must admit that they don’t stay like it for very long! They are always happy to go in and I hope that they really enjoy their trip to the hairdresser’s.

Mrs Adams

We have been using Crossways since 2011, for both our rescue spaniels. Our first dog used the hydrotherapy pool for his arthritis which was very beneficial and he also came to stay. We very happily continued to use Crossways when we got Alfie, our energetic spaniel. He comes in regularly for fun swims, grooming and to stay. He loves the girls and is always pleased to see them.

Will was clearly well cared for and has even come back smelling amazing!
